Can't remember the parts of speech that you learned long ago? Do you sometimes struggle when you are writing a sentence or get lost in a rambling paragraph? Refresh yourself on the building blocks of grammar and composition in this short course. Revisit nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, pronouns, prepositions, conjunctions, infinitives, articles, interjections and gerunds. Weekly lessons will also explore the mechanics of subject-verb agreement, capitalization rules and sentence skills, focusing on problem areas such as run-ons, comma splices, fragments and awkward, confusing or garbled wording.
Writers, students, and those who want to get ahead on the job must know basic rules of grammar to communicate effectively with others. This is the first in a three-part series which also covers word usage (Part 2) and punctuation (Part 3).
