![]() By popular demand, our Writers' Roundtable continues on from where we left off this past summer with an entirely new series of weekly tutorials that will unleash your creativity and help you break through to better writing. The theme of this five-week workshop is "Writing What You Know," and you will be encouraged to draw on your personal experiences. You will learn to sharpen your perception of the world around you and see familiar things in everyday life in a new light. The course will also examine how successful authors use their own personal histories to form the basis of their work. Weekly lessons will include readings and writing prompts that are designed to help develop the use of memory, observation, and the senses. Students will share their writings and critiques on the Writers Roundtable discussion forum, which will be moderated by the instructor. This course is appropriate for beginning writers, working authors, and anyone who is called upon to produce written material on the job, at school, or for leisure enjoyment. Curriculum: Five week course. No textbook required. Prerequisites: None. All students may enroll in this class. Prior completion of basic grammar courses offered at VU is suggested but not required.
