This course will demystify the art of reading food labels and teach lifelong eating habits which participants can use to maintain health and vitality well into old age. Author and herbalist Debbie Markel explores the differences between healthy and unhealthy fats, offers practical tips on giving recipes a healthy makeover, and explains why nutrition is essential to good health at any age.
Other topics presented in this course will include the importance of proper hydration; what carbohydrates, fats and proteins do and why we need all of them in our diet; sodas, artificial sweeteners, food pyramids, and dieting; and how to enjoy healthy meals when dining out.
Curriculum: Five-week independent study course. No textbook required.
