![]() This course explores women’s health from a global perspective. The goals of the course are to: introduce participants to a holistic view of women’s health; explore major areas of debate in women’s health; provide a global overview of women’s health issues and problems; and empower students to take responsibility for their own health. The class will examine physical, social, and geo-cultural influences on health as well as biological factors such as childbearing, fertility, and nutrition. Weekly lessons will discuss definitions of health and illness and provide insights into women's health care worldwide; some of the major health issues facing women; the female life-cycle; reproductive and sexual health; women and cancer; and taking care of your own health. Curriculum: 5 week course. No textbook required. Prerequisites: None. All students may enroll in this course.
