![]() In this fascinating course, Satya Sarada Kandula explains the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, an ancient Sanskrit text that captures the essence of sacred Hindu writings and of Hindu philosophy. This classic text describes different paths to realising God and shows how they are similar. It is widely revered by Hindus as the Song (Word) of God. Weekly lessons will explain what the Gita says about the true nature of the Soul and the Universe, the different kinds of seekers, moral dilemmas we face in daily life, how to recognise where you are on the spiritual path, and various techniques that can be used to achieve Yoga (Union) with God. The course will also discuss Karma, Raja, and Bhakthi Yoga and explains what they are and why they are practiced by millions around the world. This is Part One of a two-part course that will cover the first half of the Gita (Chapters 1 through 8). Part Two will cover the remaining chapters and will be offered at VU next term. Curriculum: Four-week course, instructor-led. Prerequisites: No prerequisites. All students may enroll in this course.
